Who will be writing the content? Me
What kind of content will you be publishing? As a starting point, it will read a lot like the content I used to publish as Twitter threads. The topics will be timely— they’ll reflect breaking news and world events. Thematically, the content will reflect my life experience, so they’ll cover a lot of ground— science, technology, healthcare, business, policy, and more.
How often will you publish? I’ve been reluctant to invest too much effort into a newsletter because, until recently, I felt that the platforms were too restrictive vis à vis publishing cadence. I like diving into topics that I’m unfamiliar with, but I also like to explore topics where I am an expert. That can translate into zero posts for several days or a flurry of posts on a single day. That said, I am vehemently anti-spam and will avoid publishing to email more frequently than every other day. Once I become more familiar with Substack, I may set up a digest email that goes out once a week in lieu of pushing emails for every post. I’m open to feedback, and would love to hear what works best for you.
How much will this cost? Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada. If anti-vax trolls decide to bring their harassment campaigns to this platform, then I may need to publish some content behind a nominal paywall as a way to de-anonymize bad actors. That said, I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to obviate the need for a paywall through vigorous audience management (i.e. blocking). Let’s see how this goes.
